"Go Tell it on the Mountain... Sharing my Faith with the World around Me.

Do you struggle with sharing your faith with others? Are you afraid to talk with someone because you might “mess it up?” The best way to battle that fear is to be prepared. Let’s break it down. It’s called the great commission and here are four simple steps to getting started.

I invite you to read Mathew chapter 28 along with this study, though my focus will be on verse 18-20.

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”

Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV

  • Read your Bible daily

If anyone knows how hard it is to make time for a daily Bible studys, it’s a small business owner. I struggled with this myself for more than a decade. Life is demanding of our time and sometimes it seems like the things that ever remain undone are calling us louder than the Word of God, but it’s ok to set them aside. A few years ago, I decided to start every day with a Bible study, no matter how early I needed to wake up to do it. Yes, it’s a sacrifice, but to be honest, not much of one. When comparing the loss of a few extra minutes of sleep to the ultimate price my Savior paid for me on the cross, I can’t bring myself to complain.

Making this change in my daily schedule has change my life for the better. When I was going through the worse battle I could have imagined in my life, His Word kept me going. No, I didn’t get a warm fuzzy feeling every time I did my study, and No, I didn’t always have an awesome day afterward, but I saw my outlook change. Suddenly I was more peaceful, more #joyful, more companionate, because I wasn’t focusing on what I wanted for my day but what God wanted for my day.

Others began to see the change in me as well. They knew I was a #Christian. Even when I wasn’t trying to show my faith, the Lord was shining in my life for the world to see.

  • Don’t forget to Fellowship

Surround yourself with other believers and learn from them. It’s amazing how much the Bible and it’s lessons will pop up in conversations among Christians. The more you speak the word of God, the easier it is to share with others.

  • Don’t be afraid

Sharing your faith shouldn’t be scary. The worst that could happen when you are sharing the love of God, is that person rejects what you’ve said. The point is, you said it. You have a responsibility to share with others, not to make them believe. I can’t promise that you won’t lose a friend or two, sometimes that happens. Sharing with others before we enter eternity is our calling as believers. Show love to the lost and have the patience that God has with you and me every day.

  • Remember to keep trying

There is no step by step conversation guide when you are sharing God's word. Not everyone responds in the same way, but the words are very simple and the book of Romans has it layed out for you.

Here are the key verses we all should have memorized or written down in a purse or wallet for easy access.

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Have a blessed day Little Sparrows.
