Surviving the Last Days (Chapter 14 part 2)

The fall of Babylon (Patience and Perseverance.)

By sending His angels to preach to the world, God is giving the people another chance to repent and turn to Him. The most important difference for those saved before the tribulation and those saved during the tribulation is that the believers who follow Christ now will be taken out of this world and spared the wrath God poured upon the earth. Those who accept Him in the time of tribulation will still have to finish out that time on earth and may very likely become martyrs for their faith. We are given these chapters as a #warning, to remind us that our time here is limited and we make a choice daily who we will follow. If we are choosing Christ, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins. If we are choosing to follow the ways of the world, then we will be punished along with the world when the Tribulation comes.

“Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth— to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.””

“To every nation, tribe, young, and people-“ the angel will preach the everlasting Gospel. No one will be able to say they “didn’t know,” or “it wasn’t in their language.” I imagine an angel speaking loudly and every person on earth hearing one voice in their own language but that’s simply my own interpretation. How miraculous that would be if that is how God chooses to speak to the world. And yet, there will be those whose hearts have been hardened against God and will turn from the truth and choose to follow the liar that is Satan even after seeing with their own eyes the proof that God is real.

“And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.””

Another angel appears and pronounces that “Babylon is fallen.” The world has learned to follow the ways of 1st century Rome and taken on the evil habits of it. This third angel gives us the boundaries that believers cannot cross. By choosing to take the mark of the beast, each person is choosing to follow the #antichrist. This mark will be a permanent stamp to show the world that person has chosen to walk away from God. Now there are many versions and many opinions for what this mark will be or look like. I can’t say I know exactly what we can expect but I firmly believe it will be apparent. The world will be fully aware of what it is when they choose to either accept or deny it and those who deny will be punished.

“Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.””

Patience isn't an easy thing for mankind, especially in this fast pace world of instant gratification. Many of us have lost the patience needed to wait for God's timing and answers. I find myself so busy trying to prevent things from happening or be prepared for each possible scenario that I forget to leave it in my Holy Father's hands. That's not to say that we shouldn't prepare or make plans, but that we should trust that God has a way of working things out wether we are ready for it or not. Patience is letting Him take control and waiting on His timing for things to happen. #Perseverance is continuing to strive for the finish line when you can't see how far you've come and have no idea how far you have left in the race but you know something amazing is waiting for you at the end.

Are you, believer, ready and able to stand that strong for your faith? You may not be openly under attack for your faith right now, but that day is quickly approaching and although at the moment, we are not being faced with a world that is in tribulation, these new believers who will accept Christ as their savior during that short period of time will be facing those trials and decisions. Little sparrows, pray for your family, friends, and acquaintances, who do not know Christ, or have not chosen him. They may be among those left in the tribulation who will be making this decision while trying to survive.
