““But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.”

Get Back to the Schedule

In this modern world, many of us run our lives on a constantly moving schedule. Knowing what time we will start our day, when we will work, eat, play and sleep. Coming from a typical California rushed lifestyle, I can attest to the fact that living on a schedule doesn’t mean you will always be on time to events, keep up with your to-do lost, or find time to spend in the word daily. It’s so very easy to get overwhelmed and start skipping things we know we need to do, like breakfast and morning devotions. *(cue my guilty-as-charged expression.)

We are human and sometimes we stumble, we may even fall. It’s ok. Just get back up and start over again. Now, more than ever, we need to be focused. The #Bible says that when we see the signs of the times we need to “take heed, watch and pray.” If you haven’t been paying attention and you are not seeing the signs, it’s time to set aside distractions, whatever they may be, (relationships, occupations, politics, health, etc.) and spend some time in the word and on our knees.

“Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning—”

Mark 13:35 NKJV

Be Prepared

Remember, there is no man or woman that knows the hour the Lord is coming for His people, don’t let anyone convince you of anything different. If you are in the word and in #fellowship with the Savior, ready for His return, you have nothing to fear. Those that are not looking, are not ready, or have earthly desires they wish to fulfill before the prepare for that day, (ie wedding, children, new house etc.) need to be wary. Be sure that your lamp is filled with oil when the bridegroom arrives. (Matthew 25:1-13)

This doesn’t mean you cannot still have those things. Like I said, no one knows when the Lord is coming for the church, there may still be plenty of time for those things, but there also may not. So, don’t let those desires keep you from being prepared.

“And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!””

Pay Attention

It’s so easy to be deceived these days. Though we have many sources and advancements for information, we have to use wisdom when trusting what we are being told is happening in the world. Take care not to follow the loudest voice but to double check the information just as you would with your pastor. Check the source and seek the truth. #Pray for wisdom in these times and put your faith in God not man.

Remember the devil roams around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. No one wants to believe that they cannot trust the information they are given or the people that are supposed to have their best interest in mind, but the truth is the enemy has hold of this world. Don’t you think that means he has control of the information too? That is why we are called to set ourselves apart, not living “of this world,” but in preparation for the kingdom of God.

Set Aside Worldly Distractions

We cannot do as the Bible commands us (to be watching) if we are holding on to the distractions of this world. Have you ever missed a movie you wanted to watch or an event you wanted to attend because you were so busy with something else that the time passed by when you weren’t paying attention? “Oh no! What time is it?” Then, when you realized it was past that time, you were not only late but you were not prepared. *sigh. Thank the smarter minds of this world for pre-recorded programs and live streaming, right? Well, this isn’t the same thing at all. If you aren’t prepared for the Lord’s return, you can’t go back and undo the state of your faith or #spiritual walk. So, I encourage you to set aside those distractions and pray. We are not of this world, though we should continue to pray for it, we should not put our hope in it.
